Controllers

Pro-C (P2C-400) / PCC

Hunter's modular residential and light-commercial controller; the current P2C-400 generation replaced the original Pro-C in 2023 and is backward compatible with older PC-400 station modules.

Specs: 4-station base, conventional wiring to 23 stations with PCM-300/PCM-900/PCM-1600 modules; hybrid EZ Decoder (PC-DM) up to 32 stations (28 if two-wire only); 3 programs x 4 start times; 2 sensor inputs (Clik or Solar Sync); 1 P/MV output; optional Seconds Mode run times; 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A out, 0.56 A per station, 0.28 A P/MV; IP44; optional PC-WIFI module (2.4 GHz only, WPA/WPA2) for Centralus software; SmartPort harness for ROAM remotes; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Only PC-400 panels dated March 2014 or newer accept the HPC-FP Hydrawise face panel (PC-300 is not compatible); PC-300 (2002-2006) used grey/black modules that are no longer available. The 9 V battery keeps time only; the controller cannot run valves without AC. Easy Retrieve saves a backup program that survives a reset.

X-Core

Hunter's entry-level fixed-station residential controller with a dedicated Solar Sync dial position.

Specs: 2, 4, 6 or 8 stations (XC-200i/400i indoor; XC-400/600/800 outdoor with key lock); 3 programs x 4 start times, run times up to 4 hours; 1 sensor input; 1 P/MV; 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A, 0.56 A station, 0.28 A P/MV; plastic IP54 outdoor; QuickCheck, Easy Retrieve, Cycle and Soak, Seasonal Adjust, Delay Between Stations, programmable rain delay; EPA WaterSense when paired with Solar Sync; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Replacement transformers: indoor 120/24 VAC P/N 526500, outdoor 120/24 VAC P/N 468000. Remove the battery contact insulator so the backup battery keeps time during outages. Full reset: hold the three front buttons, press RESET on the right side, release when DONE shows.

X2 with WAND

Hunter's current fixed-station controller that becomes a Hydrawise Wi-Fi controller when the plug-in WAND module (sold separately) is installed.

Specs: 4, 6, 8 or 14 stations (X2-400/600/800/1400); without WAND: 3 programs x 4 start times, 6-hour max run; with WAND: 3 programs x 6 start times, 24-hour max run; 1 sensor input; 1 P/MV; 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A, 0.56 A station, 0.28 A P/MV, 0.84 A total; WAND: 2.4 GHz b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, WPA/WPA2 only; suspend irrigation up to 99 days; backlit display; Rapid Programming and Predictive Watering via Hydrawise; IP44; warranty 2 years (controller and module)

Tech note: Dial must be in RUN for Hydrawise to control it; OFF cancels schedules and manual runs. The HC Flow Meter is NOT compatible with X2/WAND. If the WAND is removed the controller reverts to its dial-and-button programs. WAND factory reset: hold its button 5 s until 'Fdr' shows.

ICC2

Hunter's light-to-midsize commercial modular controller with built-in flow monitoring and Centralus cloud control.

Specs: 8-station base (I2CF-800) expandable to 54 stations with 4/8/22-station modules; EZ Decoder two-wire and Wireless Valve Link outputs supported; 4 programs x 8 start times, any 2 programs run at once, 12-hour max run; 2 sensor inputs (dedicated flow + Clik/Solar Sync); 1 P/MV; 120/230 VAC in, 24 VAC 1.4 A, 0.56 A station, 0.56 A P/MV; plastic/metal/stainless wall mount (IP55) or plastic pedestal (IP24); prewired SmartPort for ROAM; Centralus Wi-Fi, Ethernet or 4G LTE modules; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Facepack and output modules are backward compatible with original ICC cabinets; the HCC-FPUP kit converts an ICC/ICC2 to Hydrawise. 'E99 ERR' means a front-panel circuit-board fault (replace the front panel).

NODE-BT

Battery-operated, Bluetooth-programmed valve-box controller for sites with no AC power.

Specs: 1, 2 or 4 stations (NODE-BT-100/200/400; -100-VALVE ships mounted on a PGV-101-G); one or two 9 V alkaline batteries; operates DC-latching solenoids (P/N 458200) only; 9-11 VDC station and P/MV output; 100' max wire run, 18 AWG; 2 sensor inputs; Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, 50' range; IP68, works submerged to 12'; 3 programs x 8 start times; run times in seconds; suspend up to 99 days; optional solar recharge kit; app iOS 9+/Android 5+; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Standard 24 VAC solenoids will not work; a PGV or ICV valve needs the DC-latching solenoid (P/N 458200). App sends battery-change reminders every 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

ICR remote (discontinued)

Hunter's original commercial handheld remote, sunset in 2011 and listed as discontinued in 2012.

Specs: Replaced by ROAM XL (itself discontinued 2025, replaced by ROAM LR); plugs into SmartPort; all ICR models warranted 5 years from manufacturing date code

Tech note: A ROAM XL transmitter can be addressed to an existing ICR receiver (hold the green receiver button while plugging into the SmartPort, then transmit).

Wi-Fi controllers

Hydrawise HC (discontinued)

The original Hydrawise touchscreen Wi-Fi controller, discontinued in 2023 and replaced by X2+WAND, Pro-HC and HPC.

Specs: 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A, 0.56 A station, 0.28 A P/MV; 2.4 GHz b/g/n Wi-Fi only; warranty 2 years from manufacturing date code

Tech note: Hydrawise current-sensing (high/low current alerts) is not available on the HC model. Serial number is on the rear or under Status > Connection Status (characters a-f and 0-9 only).

Pro-HC (PHC-600/1200/2400)

Fixed-station Hydrawise Wi-Fi controller with touchscreen for residential and light-commercial sites.

Specs: 6, 12 or 24 stations; plastic indoor/outdoor cabinet (IP44); 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A, 0.56 A station, 0.28 A P/MV; 2.4 GHz only, 802.11 b/g/n 20 MHz; 6 programs x 6 start times (or station-based advanced programming); 2 sensor inputs (any Clik sensor and HC Flow Meter); 1 P/MV; EPA WaterSense; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Continuously measures solenoid current; Hydrawise overcurrent threshold for PHC is 850 mA and it names the faulty zone in the app.

HPC (HPC-400 / HPC-FP)

Hydrawise-enabled version of the Pro-C; the HPC-FP is a retrofit face panel that upgrades an existing Pro-C cabinet to Wi-Fi control.

Specs: 4-station base, conventional wiring to 23 stations, hybrid EZ Decoder to 32 (28 two-wire only); 2 3/4" full-color touchscreen for Wi-Fi setup, zone testing and offline programming; 6 programs x 6 start times; 2 sensor inputs (Clik or HC Flow Meter, wired or wireless); 1 P/MV; 120 VAC in, 24 VAC 1 A, 0.56 A station, 0.28 A P/MV; 2.4 GHz only; IP44; warranty 2 years

Tech note: HPC-FP fits P2C-400 and PC-400 panels with a date code of March 2014 or newer only (PC-300 not compatible); swap = power off at slide bar, unplug ribbon cable, press white hinge release, clip in HPC panel. Overcurrent threshold 900 mA.

HCC

Hydrawise Wi-Fi version of the ICC2 for larger residential and commercial sites.

Specs: 8-station base to 38 or 54 stations depending on model (same 4/8/22-station modules as ICC2; up to 54 EZ decoder stations); plastic (IP55), metal, stainless wall mount or plastic pedestal (IP24); 120/230 VAC in, 24 VAC 1.4 A, 0.56 A station, 0.56 A P/MV; 2.4 GHz only; built-in milliamp sensor; HC Flow Meter support; ROAM/ROAM LR compatible; HCC-FPUP retrofit kit for ICC/ICC2; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Overcurrent threshold 1,200 mA. Only the HCC supports Wireless Valve Link alerts (low battery, unable to start).

Rotors

PGP Ultra

Hunter's flagship 3/4" residential rotor with automatic arc return and a non-strippable, vandal-resistant drive.

Specs: Radius 17'-46'; flow 0.36-14.8 GPM; 3/4" NPT inlet; 34 nozzles (blue standard 1.5-8.0, gray low-angle 2.0-4.5, black short-radius 0.50-3.0, green 6.0-13.0, MPR-25/30/35 matched-precip); recommended 25-70 PSI, operating 20-100 PSI; ~0.4 in/hr; trajectory 25 deg standard / 13 deg low-angle; arc 50-360 deg, part- and full-circle in one unit; shrub, 4", 6", 12" bodies; optional drain check valve (CV) to 10' elevation; reclaimed (R) ID; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Headed/slotted set screw takes the Hunter wrench or a flat-blade screwdriver; radius screw P/N 180900. Riser seal kit (10 seals + spring seat) P/N 253400 fits PGP, PGP Ultra and I-20-12; seal only P/N 181500. The small hole on the riser side is a drain/flush hole and is supposed to drip.

PGP-ADJ (older PGP)

The original PGP rotor, still sold, with a 40-360 deg arc and 12 red nozzles included.

Specs: Radius 22'-52'; flow 0.5-14.1 GPM; 3/4" inlet; 27 nozzle options (standard red, standard blue, gray low-angle); recommended 25-70 PSI, operating 20-100 PSI; ~0.4 in/hr; check valve available (4' check height); warranty 2 years

Tech note: Radius screw P/N 120300SP; turning it clockwise more than five full turns can eject the screw.

PGJ

Compact 1/2" rotor that gives rotor coverage in spray-head sized areas.

Specs: Radius 15'-34'; flow 0.42-4.3 GPM; 1/2" inlet; 8 nozzles, 2.0 nozzle factory installed; recommended 30-50 PSI, operating 20-100 PSI; ~0.6 in/hr; trajectory ~14 deg; arc 40-360 deg; shrub (PGJ-00), 4", 6", 12"; -V models have factory drain check valve (to 7'), -R reclaimed; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Field check valve P/N 462078SP (not for PGJ-00); radius screw P/N 537900. Rubber cover and QuickCheck arc mechanism; adjusts with the same white Hunter wrench as the PGP.

I-20

Commercial-grade 3/4" rotor that shares PGP Ultra nozzles and adds FloStop, a standard check valve and optional stainless riser.

Specs: Radius 17'-46'; flow 0.36-14.8 GPM; 3/4" NPT; 34 nozzles (same racks as PGP Ultra); recommended 25-70 PSI, operating 20-100 PSI; ~0.4 in/hr; arc 50-360 deg; shrub, 4", 6", 12"; drain check valve standard (to 10'), NCV models without; SS stainless riser option; PRB pressure-regulated body option; rubber cover; warranty 5 years

Tech note: FloStop: with the zone running, insert the Hunter wrench in the hole in the center of the rubber cover and turn clockwise to shut that one head off for nozzle swaps. I-20 riser seal only P/N 252500.

I-25

Large-turf 1" rotor with high-torque gear drive and built-in check valve.

Specs: Radius 37'/40'-71'; flow 3.8-31.5 GPM; 1" NPT; 11 nozzles (five included; 4-28 available); operating 40-100 PSI; ~0.4 in/hr; trajectory 25 deg; arc 50-360 deg; 4" and 6" pop-up, plastic or stainless riser, high-speed (HS) and reclaimed options; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Automatic arc return and non-strippable drive like the PGP Ultra; needs at least 40 PSI, so it is rarely right for a residential 1" meter.

SRM

Hunter's economy short-range 1/2" rotor, a budget alternative to sprays.

Specs: Radius 15'-34'; flow 0.42-4.3 GPM; 1/2" inlet; 8 nozzles, 2.0 installed; recommended 30-50 PSI, operating 20-100 PSI; ~0.6 in/hr; arc 40-360 deg; SRM-04 (4") only, no check valve; warranty 1 year

Tech note: User-installed drain check valve P/N 462078SP (to 7'); same through-the-top arc adjustment as the PGJ.

Spray bodies

Pro-Spray (PROS)

Hunter's standard pop-up spray body that accepts female-threaded spray nozzles and MP Rotators.

Specs: 1/2" inlet; shrub adapter (PROS-00), 2", 3", 4", 6", 12" pop-ups; operating 15-100 PSI; check valve (CV) on 4", 6", 12" to 10' elevation; side-inlet (SI) 6" and 12"; reclaimed cap; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Accessories: shutoff cap P/N 213600SP, shutoff nozzle P/N 916400SP, reclaimed ID cap P/N 458520SP. Non-regulated, so spray nozzles mist at high pressure; Hunter pairs sprays with PRS30.

Pro-Spray PRS30

Pro-Spray body with an in-stem regulator that holds 30 PSI at the nozzle for conventional spray nozzles.

Specs: Brown cap; 1/2" inlet; shrub, 3", 4", 6", 12"; operational 15-100 PSI; CV option; FloGuard (-F) option on 4", 6", 12"; reclaimed (-R); warranty 5 years

Tech note: Use PRS30 under an MP Rotator only when you need the minimum radius (MP radius bottoms out at 30 PSI); Hunter says PRS bodies save up to 30% water versus unregulated bodies.

Pro-Spray PRS40

Pro-Spray body regulated to 40 PSI, the optimum pressure for MP Rotator nozzles.

Specs: Gray cap; 1/2" inlet; shrub, 3", 4", 6", 12"; CV option; FloGuard (-F) option; reclaimed (-R); side-inlet 6" and 12"; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Cap color is the field ID: gray = 40 PSI (MP Rotator), brown = 30 PSI (sprays).

Nozzles

MP Rotator (standard: MP1000/2000/3000/3500, MP Corner)

Multi-stream rotating nozzle that fits any Pro-Spray body and applies water at about 0.4 in/hr, far slower than a fixed spray.

Specs: MP1000 8'-15' (maroon 90-210 deg, light blue 210-270, olive 360); MP2000 13'-21' (black 90-210, green 210-270, red 360); MP3000 22'-30' (blue 90-210); MP3500 31'-35' per Hunter cutsheet; MP-CORNER 8'-15', 45-105 deg, turquoise; ~0.4 in/hr; recommended 40 PSI, minimum radius at 30 PSI; radius reduction up to ~25%; female thread (HT = male thread); warranty 3 years

Tech note: Hunter states operating pressure above 55 PSI shortens nozzle life, speeds rotation, hurts uniformity and voids the trade warranty, so put MPs on PRS40 bodies. Arc only adjusts while popped up and running; a slip clutch stops you closing the radius fully. Removable inlet filter screen (MP3000 uses 20 mesh).

MP Rotator MP800 series (MP800SR/MP815/MP820)

Higher-precipitation MP Rotator for small spaces and spray retrofits.

Specs: MP-800SR 6'-12' (gray/orange 90-210, gray/lime 360); MP-815 8'-16'; MP-820 15'-24'; 0.8 in/hr; recommended 40 PSI, minimum radius at 30 PSI; radius reduction ~25%; double-pop; warranty 3 years

Tech note: 0.8 in/hr does not match standard MPs at 0.4 in/hr; Hunter says zone MP800s separately. MP800SR-90 uses a finer 60-mesh screen.

MP Rotator Strip nozzles

MP Rotators for 5'-wide strips: side strip and left/right corner strips.

Specs: MP-SS-530 side strip 5' x 30' (brown); MP-LCS-515 left corner 5' x 15' (ivory); MP-RCS-515 right corner 5' x 15' (copper); recommended 40 PSI, minimum radius at 30 PSI; female (HT = male); warranty 3 years

Tech note: Factory arcs: side strip 180 deg, corner strips 90 deg. Match their precipitation to standard MPs (single row/triangular) or MP800s (rectangular) per Hunter's layout note.

Pro Adjustable Nozzles

Variable-arc spray nozzles for Pro-Spray bodies; only the 4' and 6' sizes remain current.

Specs: 4A (4') and 6A (6'), arc adjustable 0-360 deg, female thread; recommended 30 PSI; pair with PRS30; warranty 2 years

Tech note: 8A, 10A, 12A, 15A and 17A were phased out in 2026; Hunter names Pro High-Efficiency Nozzles as the replacement.

Pro Fixed Nozzles

Fixed-arc spray nozzles in six radius families.

Specs: 5', 8', 10', 12', 15', 17' radius; Q = 90 deg, T = 120 deg, H = 180 deg, F = 360 deg (e.g. 15H = 15' half); radius can be reduced; female thread; recommended 30 PSI; pair with PRS30; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Hunter publishes performance data per nozzle; on a 30 PSI PRS30 body the stamped radius is the design radius.

Valves

1" PGV (screw-top)

Hunter's standard residential 1" solenoid valve, 100% factory water-tested.

Specs: Flow 0.2-40 GPM; recommended 20-150 PSI; 150 F; globe (G), angle (A), male x male (MM), male x barb (MB, 3/4" or 1 1/4" barb) bodies; -100 no flow control, -101 flow control; -S slip, -DC latching solenoid (P/N 458200), -LS no solenoid; 24 VAC solenoid 350 mA inrush / 190 mA holding at 60 Hz; reverse-flow solenoid; double-beaded diaphragm; Accu Sync regulator option; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Hunter valves need at least 20 PSI to close. Manual open: solenoid 1/4 turn CCW or bleed screw 1/4 turn; closes within 15 s when retightened. 1 1/2" PGV-151 = 20-120 GPM, 2" PGV-201 = 20-150 GPM. Diaphragm is interchangeable across PGV, SRV and ASV 1" valves.

PGV Jar-Top

1" PGV with a hand-threaded bonnet ring instead of bonnet screws for tool-free service.

Specs: Flow 0.2-40 GPM; 20-150 PSI; G/MM/MB bodies, slip (S) option; -100 no flow control, -101 flow control; same 24 VAC 350/190 mA solenoid; DC and LS options; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Hand-tighten the ring only; over-tightening damages the valve. Debris under the diaphragm is the number one cause of a weeping jar-top.

ICV

Hunter's commercial glass-filled-nylon globe valve for high pressure and dirty water.

Specs: 1", 1 1/2", 2", 3" (ICV-101G 0.1-40 GPM; 151G 0.1-150; 201G 0.1-200; 301 0.1-300 GPM); 20-220 PSI; flow control standard; Filter Sentry (FS) self-cleaning filter option, can be added to an installed valve; FS-R reclaimed with purple knob and chlorine-resistant diaphragm; DC and LS options; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Filter Sentry wipes the filter every time the valve opens, which is what to spec on well or pond water.

Sensors

Rain-Clik / Wireless Rain-Clik

Rain sensor with Quick Response that interrupts the controller within minutes of rain starting rather than after a set depth.

Specs: RAIN-CLIK wired (25' of 20 AWG two-conductor wire), RAIN-CLIK-NO normally open, RFC rain/freeze, WR-CLIK wireless kit (sensor, receiver, aluminum mount); shutoff ~2-5 min, reset ~4 h in dry sun; 3 A switch at 24 VAC; wireless 433 MHz, 800' line of sight, freeze shutoff 37 F on wireless; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Test only in Manual All Stations or an automatic cycle; Manual Single Station overrides the sensor. Wireless: press the spindle, the LED should flash (battery good); after a power outage the receiver LED stays red until it resyncs (hold Test 5 s).

Mini-Clik / Wireless Mini-Clik

Classic cup-and-disc rain sensor with adjustable rainfall set point.

Specs: Adjustable 1/8" to 3/4" of rainfall; MINI-CLIK (25' wire, aluminum mount), MINI-CLIK-C conduit mount, MINI-CLIK-NO normally open; WM-CLIK wireless rain/freeze (37 F), 433 MHz, 800' line of sight; 3 A switch; warranty 5 years

Tech note: No maintenance and no winter removal needed. If the system never shuts off, move the cap to a more sensitive setting, check for overhangs or trees blocking rain, and confirm the SEN jumper was removed at the controller.

Soil-Clik

Soil-moisture probe and module that stops irrigation when the root zone is wet enough.

Specs: SC-PROBE probe + module; 5 A switch at 24 VAC; 100 mA input; up to 1,000' from module to probe on AC systems; connects to sensor inputs or interrupts the common wire of any 24 VAC controller; warranty 5 years

Tech note: Pairs with NODE-BT (probe only) and with Solar Sync for ET-plus-moisture control.

Solar Sync

ET weather sensor that measures sunlight and temperature and rewrites the controller's Seasonal Adjust every day, with built-in Rain-Clik and Freeze-Clik shutoff.

Specs: SOLAR-SYNC-SEN wired (25' wire, gutter mount); WSS-SEN wireless (433 MHz, 800' LOS, receiver included); WSS-TR transmitter, WSSR receiver; freeze shutoff 37 F; Region 1-4 and Water Adjustment 1-10 (default 5); works with X-Core, Pro-C, X2, ICC2, HCC and most Hunter controllers; warranty 5 years from the date code

Tech note: The Bypass switch only disables the rain/freeze shutoff; it does not stop the automatic seasonal adjust. To remove it permanently you must 'uninstall' it at the Solar Sync dial position (dashes shown) or the controller shows 'No SS'.

HC Flow Meter (wired or wireless)

Hydrawise flow sensor that reports per-zone flow and sends high-flow, low-flow and leak alerts.

Specs: HC-075-FLOW 3/4" (0.22 min / 15 rec / 21 max GPM), HC-100-FLOW 1" (0.3/30/34), HC-150-FLOW 1 1/2" (0.88/66/88), HC-200-FLOW 2" (1.98/105/132); male NPT; 230 PSI max; analog dial in U.S. gallons; wired with shielded 18 AWG up to 1,000'; W-HC-FLOW wireless kit 900 MHz, 500' line of sight; works with HPC, Pro-HC, HCC (and ICC2 via Centralus); NOT X2/WAND; warranty 2 years

Tech note: Install between master valve and zone valves, horizontal, arrow with flow, with 10 pipe diameters straight before and 5 after (1" meter = 10" / 5"). Picking the wrong model size in the app causes false alerts. Slow-leak alert threshold is 8 GPM over an hour; high-flow leak recommended at 1-3 GPM.

Drip

HDL / PLD dripline

Hunter Dripline (HDL) is the current pressure-compensating inline dripline, described by Hunter as the upgrade to PLD.

Specs: 0.4, 0.6 or 0.9 GPH emitters; 12", 18" or 24" spacing; 0.660" OD x 0.560" ID; PC, PC with check valve (CV) and reclaimed (R) versions; blank tubing; up to 60 PSI; 120 mesh (125 micron) filtration; coils 100', 250', 500', 1,000'; warranty 5 years plus 2 for environmental stress cracking

Tech note: Uses PLD-LOC or 17 mm barb fittings. PLD fittings themselves carry a 1-year warranty; dripline needs a filter and regulator (ACZ/PCZ zone kits are 2-year items).

Hunter wrench and MP Rotator tool

The white Hunter wrench (3/32 Allen key plus plastic arc key) adjusts every Hunter rotor; the MPTOOL adjusts MP Rotator arc and radius.

Specs: Hunter wrench: 3/32" hex for radius, plastic key for arc, finger loops; MPTOOL or small flat-blade screwdriver for MP radius screw

Tech note: A plain 3/32" Allen key does radius only; arc needs the Hunter key.

Troubleshooting

Hunter sprinkler problems — causes and fixes

The symptoms we hear on the phone most, what is usually behind them, and how our technicians handle each one.

PGP rotor won't rotate

  • Debris in the inlet filter screen
  • Grit in the sealed gear drive from age, high pressure or dirty water
  • Pressure too low at the head

What we do: Pull the internal assembly, clean the filter, check pressure; if it still stalls, swap the head (PGP Ultra internals are not field-serviceable).

Rotor doesn't pop up fully or leaks around the stem

  • Broken lateral or fitting (look near new plantings or fences)
  • Worn riser seal / spring seat causing flow-by
  • Zone valve diaphragm not opening fully

What we do: Find and repair the leak, replace the riser seal (kit P/N 253400 for PGP/PGP Ultra/I-20-12), or flush/replace the valve diaphragm.

MP Rotator spins slowly or not at all

  • Debris in the nozzle filter or stream deflector
  • Pressure well below the 40 PSI design point

What we do: Remove and rinse the screen, open radius 4 turns and cycle the arc ring to flush, then verify pressure with an MP gauge and correct supply or body (PRS40).

Spray or MP zone mists and won't throw full distance

  • Unregulated Pro-Spray bodies on high pressure
  • Pressure above 55 PSI at MP Rotators

What we do: Convert heads to PRS30 (sprays) or PRS40 (MP Rotators) bodies or throttle the valve flow control.

Zone stays on or valve weeps when off

  • Debris between diaphragm and seat (new install, mainline repair, well water)
  • Torn diaphragm
  • Solenoid or bleed screw left open manually
  • Valve installed backwards
  • Supply pressure under 20 PSI

What we do: Shut the water, disassemble and rinse the valve, replace a damaged diaphragm, snug the solenoid and bleed screw, confirm the flow arrow points to the heads.

Zone won't come on

  • Water off or master valve closed
  • Less than 24-28 VAC reaching the valve (bad splice, undersized/too-long wire)
  • Failed solenoid
  • Clogged solenoid exhaust port (glue, Teflon, dirt)

What we do: Open the bleed screw to prove water, meter the terminals and the splice, swap wires with a working zone to isolate controller vs field, clear the port with 18 AWG wire or replace the solenoid.

Lowest head drains after every cycle

  • Low-head drainage of the lateral pipe (stops once the pipe empties)
  • Leak through the zone valve (keeps flowing)

What we do: Add check valves (HCV or CV bodies/rotors) for low-head drainage; service the valve if it never stops.

Controller shows a station number and ERR

  • Shorted field wire or splice
  • Bad solenoid

What we do: Swap the wire to a good terminal to confirm, ohm the solenoid (20-30 ohms), repair the splice or replace the solenoid, then press any button to clear.

Controller waters again and again or seems to run all day

  • Extra start times programmed (start-time numbers are not station numbers)
  • Seasonal adjust or run times set too high

What we do: Leave one start time per program and delete the rest; Hunter calls this the most common cause of repeats.

Rain sensor never shuts the system off

  • SEN jumper still installed
  • Sensor switch in BYPASS
  • Not enough rain reached the sensor (overhang, cap set too high)
  • Wireless pair out of sync or dead transmitter battery

What we do: Remove the jumper, set Active, lower the Mini-Clik set point, relocate the sensor, resync or replace the wireless transmitter.

Hydrawise controller shows offline

  • 5 GHz-only or changed Wi-Fi
  • Weak signal
  • Controller left in Offline Mode
  • Router/ISP blocking DNS, NTP, TCP 8883 or HTTPS
  • Dial not in RUN (X2)

What we do: Power-cycle, run Status > Connection Status > Check Connection, re-enter credentials on a 2.4 GHz SSID, add an extender, or factory-reset and re-add; keep an on-site rain sensor so the system still shuts off without internet.

Display blank or reads NO AC after a storm

  • Tripped GFI/breaker
  • Transformer failed from surge
  • Front panel damaged by lightning

What we do: Restore power, meter the transformer for 24-28 VAC, replace the transformer or panel; surge/lightning damage is excluded from Hunter's warranty.

Solar Sync waters too little or too much

  • Region set too high or too low
  • Water Adjustment away from default 5
  • Sensor mounted in shade

What we do: Raise/lower Water Adjustment 1-10, step the Region up or down and restart at 5, or move the sensor into full sun; the Bypass switch does not stop the seasonal adjust.

Error messages

Hunter controller error codes and alerts

What the display or app is telling you, and what it takes to clear it.

ControllerMessageMeaningUsual causeWhat our tech does
Pro-C / X-Core / ICC2 / P2C # ERR (e.g. 1 ERR) Fault detected on that station's output (short-circuit protection tripped). Shorted or nicked field wire, bad splice at the valve, or a failed solenoid on the station shown. Press any button to clear, swap the faulting wire into a known-good terminal to confirm it is the field side, then ohm the circuit (solenoid should read 20-30 ohms), fix the splice or replace the solenoid.
Pro-C / X-Core / ICC2 / P2C P ERR The pump/master-valve (P/MV) circuit is drawing too much current. Defective master-valve solenoid, incompatible or failed pump start relay, undersized or too-long wire to the relay. Check for 24-28 VAC at the relay or MV, ohm the MV solenoid (20-30 ohms), verify relay specs do not exceed the controller's P/MV rating (0.28 A on Pro-C/X-Core/X2, 0.56 A on ICC2/HCC), repair wiring or replace relay/solenoid.
Pro-C / X-Core / ICC2 / P2C SP ERR or ERR (no number) SmartPort error: noise or miswiring on the remote-control port. SmartPort harness bundled with field wires, wires on the wrong terminals (white next to blue on REM, red above ground), damaged harness, or a remote receiver set to the wrong station count. Re-route the harness away from field wiring, correct the terminals, check the remote's max station setting, replace the SmartPort harness or receiver if the error stays.
Pro-C / X-Core / ICC2 / P2C NO AC (or blank display) Controller has lost 24 VAC and is running on the 9 V backup battery (time only, no watering). Dead outlet, tripped GFI/breaker, failed transformer, loose AC terminal; a hardwired outdoor unit needs an electrician for the primary side. Verify the outlet with a lamp, meter the transformer for 24-28 VAC at the AC terminals, replace the transformer (X-Core indoor P/N 526500, outdoor 468000) or, after a 4-5 minute power cycle still shows nothing, replace the panel/controller.
X-Core / P2C (Pro-C) No SS A Solar Sync sensor that was installed is no longer detected. Solar Sync removed without uninstalling it, broken sensor wire, loose SEN terminals. Re-land the sensor wires on SEN, or if it was removed on purpose press the reset button on the back of the panel (P2C) or turn to the Solar Sync position until dashes show (X-Core) to uninstall it.
X-Core / Pro-C with Solar Sync Dashes at the Solar Sync dial position No Solar Sync is connected, so there is no Region or Water Adjustment to show. Sensor not wired, wire break or bad connection. Connect the sensor to SEN, check the wire run, reset the controller; the display then shows Region and Water Adjustment.
ICC2 E99 ERR Internal circuit-board fault in the front panel. Failed facepack electronics (often after a surge). Replace the ICC2 front panel; station modules and cabinet stay.
ICC2 / X-Core Frozen or garbled display Processor glitch, usually after a power surge. Lightning or line surge, electrical anomaly. Reset the controller (Pro-C: hold PRG and press RESET until 12:00 am; X-Core: hold the three buttons and press RESET until DONE), then reprogram or restore with Easy Retrieve.
X-Core Umbrella icon / flashing sprinkler icon with no zones running Umbrella = rain sensor is holding irrigation off or the SEN jumper is missing; flashing sprinkler with no water = the controller thinks it is watering but nothing is running. Wet sensor or missing jumper; water supply off, wiring short, or bad solenoid. Slide the rain-sensor switch to BYPASS to test or install the jumper; for the flashing icon check the backflow/supply, field wiring and solenoids.
X2 with WAND FAIL / bAd SSID OR PASS CodE / rouTer CONNECT FAIL / Cloud CONNECT FAIL / OFF LINE Wi-Fi setup failed; wrong network name or password; cannot reach the router; cannot reach the Hydrawise server; was connected but Wi-Fi dropped or went out of range. Typo in SSID/password, 5 GHz-only network, weak signal, ISP/DNS or certificate problem. Confirm a 2.4 GHz network and re-enter credentials, move the router or add an extender, power-cycle (unplug 10 s), run Bluetooth Diagnostics in the Hydrawise app, and if needed hold the WAND button 5 s until 'Fdr' shows to factory-reset and re-pair.
Hydrawise (Pro-HC / HPC / HCC) High Current (overcurrent) alert The built-in milliamp sensor saw too much current on a zone and shut it off. Wiring short or bad solenoid; thresholds are PHC 850 mA, HPC 900 mA, HCC 1,200 mA (a normal solenoid draws 200-400 mA, 300-500 mA with a master valve). Not available on the old HC. Pull that zone wire (and the P/MV wire if all zones alert), run the zone manually, inspect the splice for corrosion, test the solenoid wired straight to the controller, replace the solenoid or repair the wire.
Hydrawise (Pro-HC / HPC / HCC) Low Current alert Current on the zone measured 0-70 mA, i.e. an open circuit; alert arrives after the cycle ends. Broken wire, failed solenoid, or a non-Hunter solenoid/low-voltage lighting relay; a PXSYNC lighting transformer (34-39 mA) also triggers it. Run the zone manually; if no water, trace the common and zone wire, test the solenoid directly on the terminals, replace the solenoid or repair the open.
Hydrawise touchscreen (HC / Pro-HC / HPC) Check Connection Enable Wi-Fi / Wi-Fi 2.4gHz / Move Router Closer / Check DNS / NTP Fail / IOT Fail / HTTPS Fail Controller is in Offline Mode; no 2.4 GHz network found; weak signal; ISP or router DNS problem; NTP blocked; TCP port 8883 blocked; HTTPS blocked. Offline programming left on, 5 GHz-only router, distance/walls, router filtering or parental controls. Re-enable Wi-Fi under Offline Programs and Settings, confirm a 2.4 GHz SSID and WPA2 password of 8+ characters, add a repeater, and have the customer's ISP/router open DNS, NTP, TCP 8883 and HTTPS.
How-to

Hunter how-to: resets, adjustments and bypasses

The quick procedures homeowners and property managers ask us about, straight from the manufacturer’s manuals.

Adjust a PGP Ultra / PGP / I-20 arc
  1. Turn the turret counterclockwise to the left stop, then clockwise to the right stop (the fixed side; hold it there).
  2. Insert the plastic key end of the Hunter wrench in the adjustment socket on top.
  3. Turn clockwise to widen, counterclockwise to narrow; each full turn = 90 deg.
  4. Range is 50-360 deg on PGP Ultra/I-20 (40-360 on PGP-ADJ, PGJ, SRM); the wrench ratchets at the limit.
  5. Water can be on or off; set the arc before installing when possible.

Reduce a Hunter rotor's radius
  1. Insert the 3/32" hex end of the Hunter wrench (or a flat-blade screwdriver on PGP Ultra/PGJ/I-20) in the radius screw on top of the nozzle.
  2. Turn clockwise, into the stream, to shorten the throw; counterclockwise to lengthen.
  3. Radius can be reduced up to 25%.
  4. Do not go more than five full turns clockwise or the screw can eject (replacement screws: PGP-ADJ 120300SP, PGP Ultra 180900, PGJ 537900).

Steps from Hunter’s published support page: www.hunterirrigation.com. Not comfortable doing it? Book us and we will.

Realign a rotor's right (fixed) stop that waters the sidewalk
  1. Reset the turret: rotate fully clockwise, then counterclockwise back to the right stop.
  2. Either grip the body and turn the whole head and its fitting to the new position, or unscrew the body cap counterclockwise and lift out the internal assembly.
  3. Hold the turret at the right stop, screw the assembly back in with the nozzle aimed at the right edge of the area.
  4. Set the left edge with the arc key; no digging required.

Steps from Hunter’s published support page: www.hunterirrigation.com. Not comfortable doing it? Book us and we will.

Adjust an MP Rotator nozzle
  1. Install with the flat Left Edge Indicator pointing at the left edge of the pattern; on a Pro-Spray body twist the two-piece riser to align.
  2. With the zone running and the nozzle popped up, turn the arc ring clockwise to widen and counterclockwise to narrow (MPTOOL or by hand).
  3. For radius, turn the center screw clockwise up to 4 full turns to shorten, counterclockwise to lengthen (max 25% reduction).
  4. If it will not come down far enough, pressure is too high: use a PRS30 body for minimum radius, PRS40 for normal.
  5. Convert the whole zone to MPs and lengthen the run time; stay under 55 PSI.

Clean a rotor filter when a PGP stops turning
  1. Unscrew the body cap counterclockwise (pliers may be needed on an old head).
  2. Lift the internal riser assembly out of the body.
  3. Pull the filter screen off the bottom of the assembly with needle-nose pliers, rinse it.
  4. Reassemble; if it still will not rotate, the gear drive is contaminated and the head is replaced.

Service a weeping PGV / Jar-Top valve
  1. Turn the controller to System Off and shut the main water supply (never open a valve under pressure).
  2. Unscrew the solenoid counterclockwise; check the plunger moves freely.
  3. Remove the bonnet screws or unthread the jar-top ring (channel locks gently if stiff).
  4. Lift out bonnet, diaphragm, spring and support ring, noting orientation; rinse the diaphragm and inspect for tears, wrinkles or nicks on the seat.
  5. Clear grit from the body and poke a wire through the solenoid ports.
  6. Reassemble with the diaphragm lip in both grooves; hand-tighten the jar-top ring only.
  7. Replace the diaphragm assembly if damaged.

Steps from Hunter’s published support page: www.hunterirrigation.com. Not comfortable doing it? Book us and we will.

Open a Hunter valve manually at the valve box
  1. Turn the solenoid 1/4 turn counterclockwise, or open the bleed screw 1/4 turn (a trickle from the bleed screw is normal).
  2. If the system has a master valve, open it the same way first.
  3. To stop, retighten the solenoid or bleed screw; the valve closes within about 15 seconds.
  4. Use the flow-control knob (4-5 turns open = fully open) to tame pressure on spray zones.

Steps from Hunter’s published support page: www.hunterirrigation.com. Not comfortable doing it? Book us and we will.

Reset a Pro-C or X-Core and keep a backup program (Easy Retrieve)
  1. Save first: dial in RUN, hold + and PRG for 5 seconds until 'doNE' (Pro-C, PCC, X-Core, XC).
  2. Pro-C reset: hold PRG, press and release RESET on the back of the panel, release PRG when 12:00 am shows.
  3. X-Core reset: hold the three buttons (-, right arrow, PRG), press RESET on the right side, release when DONE shows.
  4. Restore: dial in RUN, hold - and PRG for 5 seconds; saved programs survive a reset.

Steps from Hunter’s published support page: www.hunterirrigation.com. Not comfortable doing it? Book us and we will.

Test a Rain-Clik or Mini-Clik rain sensor
  1. Start a Manual All Stations (or One Touch) run, not a single station, which bypasses the sensor.
  2. Press the spindle/test button on the sensor; watering should stop.
  3. If it does not: confirm the SEN jumper was removed, the controller's sensor switch is Active, and the wire has no staple shorts.
  4. Wireless: press the spindle and watch for the LED flash (battery OK); after a power outage hold Test 5 s so the receiver LED goes green.

Upgrade a Pro-C to Hydrawise Wi-Fi (HPC-FP)
  1. Confirm the cabinet is a P2C-400 or a PC-400 with a date code of March 2014 or newer on the white sticker inside the wiring compartment (PC-300 cannot be upgraded).
  2. Power off at the slide bar, unplug the ribbon cable, press the white hinge release and remove the old face panel.
  3. Squeeze the blue hinges on the HPC-FP panel into place, reconnect the ribbon, power on.
  4. Join a 2.4 GHz network from the touchscreen and add the controller in the Hydrawise account.

Identify & warranty

Which Hunter model do I have, and what does Hunter cover?

How to read the markings on your equipment, and Hunter’s published warranty terms for reference.

Identify your Hunter equipment

  • Controller model name is printed on the face panel; the Pro-C date code is on the white sticker inside the wiring compartment. PC-300 (2002-2006, grey/black modules), PC-400 (2014-2023, charcoal-grey main module 820200, small LCD) and P2C-400 (2023-present, large backlit display) are the three Pro-C generations.
  • A Pro-C cabinet with a 2 3/4-inch color touchscreen is an HPC (or a Pro-C upgraded with an HPC-FP panel); a touchscreen in a plain plastic cabinet marked PHC-600/1200/2400 is a Pro-HC; the original HC is the compact touchscreen unit discontinued in 2023.
  • X-Core has a fixed station count (2, 4, 6 or 8), a Solar Sync dial position and a key lock on outdoor models; X2 looks similar but has a backlit display and a slot for the WAND module (a lit WAND shows ONLINE on the LCD).
  • ICC2 and HCC are the large modular cabinets with an 8-station base and 4/8/22-station plug-in modules; an HCC has Wi-Fi and the Hydrawise front panel. NODE-BT is the sealed IP68 puck sitting on a valve in the box.
  • Hydrawise serial numbers are on the back of the controller or under Status > Connection Status and use only letters a-f and digits 0-9; the Hydrawise app's Controller Settings shows model, serial and install date.
  • Rotors: PGP Ultra and I-20 both throw 17-46 ft on a 3/4-inch inlet; the I-20's rubber cover has a FloStop hole in the center and it ships with a check valve (optional stainless riser). PGP-ADJ is the older PGP with a 40-360 arc and red nozzles. PGJ and SRM are the small 1/2-inch rotors (15-34 ft); I-25 is the 1-inch rotor in 4- or 6-inch bodies. Hunter's rotor FAQ has a photo identification chart.
  • Purple rubber covers or caps on any Hunter head mean reclaimed (non-potable) water.
  • Spray bodies: brown cap = Pro-Spray PRS30 (30 PSI), gray cap = PRS40 (40 PSI, for MP Rotators); the -CV and -F suffixes mean check valve and FloGuard.
  • MP Rotator color code: MP1000 maroon (90-210), light blue (210-270), olive (360); MP2000 black, green, red; MP3000 blue (90-210); MP Corner turquoise; side strip brown, left corner strip ivory, right corner strip copper; MP800 series are two-tone gray plus color.
  • Valves: a PGV Jar-Top has a large threaded ring and no bonnet screws; screw-top PGV has bonnet screws; ICV is the heavier glass-filled nylon valve, often with a Filter Sentry; purple flow-control knobs and tags mean reclaimed models.
  • Sensors: Mini-Clik has a vented cap with 1/8 to 3/4 inch rainfall settings; Rain-Clik has the Quick Response spindle on top; Solar Sync carries a small solar panel; a wireless model has no wire and a receiver box at the controller.

FAQ

Hunter questions people search for, answered

Do you repair Hunter sprinkler systems in Ponte Vedra and Nocatee?

Yes. Aqua Premier is a family-owned irrigation company based in Ponte Vedra with its shop in Nocatee, and Hunter equipment is part of our everyday work across St. Johns and Duval County.

Can you replace my Hunter sprinkler & irrigation with a different brand?

Yes. If a Hunter part is discontinued or a different product fits your yard better, we’ll say so and give you an up-front quote either way — our 2-year warranty covers the parts we supply and our labor.

Do you service commercial Hunter systems as well as residential?

Yes. We work on Hunter equipment on homes, HOA common areas, office parks, churches and other commercial properties across St. Johns and Duval County — the same licensed crew, with an up-front written quote either way.

How do I book a Hunter repair?

Book online in about a minute or call (904) 779-3985. Repair visits include a service call that covers the trip and diagnosis; we share any additional pricing before we start.

How do I adjust a Hunter PGP sprinkler head?

Hold the turret at the right stop and turn the plastic key of the Hunter wrench in the top socket: clockwise widens, counterclockwise narrows, 90 degrees per turn (50-360 on PGP Ultra, 40-360 on older PGP). The 3/32 hex end in the radius screw shortens the throw up to 25%. Aqua Premier adjusts arcs and radii on every head during a tune-up.

Why does my Hunter sprinkler head not rotate?

Hunter says the most common cause is debris in the filter at the base of the riser; low pressure and a contaminated gear drive are next. Cleaning the filter is the first step, and a rotor that still won't turn is replaced. Aqua Premier cleans or swaps stuck PGP, PGJ and I-20 rotors.

What does ERR mean on my Hunter controller?

A station number plus ERR means the controller found a short on that zone's wire or solenoid; P ERR is the pump/master-valve circuit; SP ERR is the SmartPort remote wiring. Pressing any button clears the message but the short stays. Aqua Premier traces the wire and replaces the solenoid or splice.

Why does my Hunter controller say NO AC?

The controller has lost 24 VAC and is only keeping time on its 9 V battery; it will not water. The outlet, GFI or the transformer (which should put out 24-28 VAC) is the usual culprit. Aqua Premier tests the transformer and replaces it or the controller.

How do I reset a Hunter Pro-C controller?

Hold the PRG button, press and release RESET on the back of the face panel, and let go when 12:00 am appears; the X-Core uses its three front buttons plus the side RESET. Programs saved with Easy Retrieve survive the reset. Aqua Premier can reset and reprogram the controller for your yard.

How do I adjust a Hunter MP Rotator?

With the zone running, turn the arc ring clockwise to widen or counterclockwise to narrow; turn the center screw clockwise (up to four turns) to shorten the radius. MP Rotators are designed for 40 PSI and reach minimum radius at 30 PSI. Aqua Premier dials in MPs and installs PRS40 bodies where pressure is too high.

Can I put MP Rotator nozzles on my existing Hunter spray heads?

Yes, MP Rotators thread onto any Pro-Spray body, but Hunter recommends converting the whole zone and running it longer because the 0.4 in/hr rate is much lower than sprays. Over 55 PSI the warranty is void, so a PRS40 regulated body is the right pairing. Aqua Premier converts spray zones to MP Rotators.

Why is my Hunter valve leaking or stuck on?

Debris caught between the diaphragm and seat is the top reason a PGV weeps or won't close; a torn diaphragm, a solenoid left open, or pressure under 20 PSI are others. Water that stops after a minute is low-head drainage, fixed with check valves, not the valve. Aqua Premier cleans or rebuilds the valve and adds check valves where needed.

Why won't my Hunter rain sensor shut off the sprinklers?

Most often the jumper on the SEN terminals was never removed, the bypass switch is on, or not enough rain reached the sensor. Test it during a Manual All Stations run by pressing the spindle; a single-station run ignores the sensor. Aqua Premier tests and replaces Mini-Clik and Rain-Clik sensors.

Why is my Hydrawise controller offline?

Hydrawise needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with a WPA2 password of at least 8 characters, a usable signal, and an ISP that is not blocking DNS, NTP or TCP port 8883; the controller's Check Connection screen reports which one failed. A power cycle is Hunter's first fix. Aqua Premier reconnects Pro-HC, HPC, HCC and X2/WAND controllers.

How do I make my Hunter Pro-C a Wi-Fi controller?

A PC-400 dated March 2014 or later, or a P2C-400, accepts the HPC-FP Hydrawise face panel; the older PC-300 cannot be upgraded. Hunter also sells the PC-WIFI module for Centralus on the P2C-400. Aqua Premier installs the upgrade panel and sets up the app.

What is the Hunter sprinkler warranty?

Hunter's limited warranty runs from the date of manufacture: 5 years on PGP Ultra, I-20, Pro-Spray bodies, ICV, Clik sensors and Solar Sync; 3 years on MP Rotators; 2 years on PGV valves, X-Core, X2, Pro-C and Hydrawise controllers; 1 year on the SRM. It covers parts only, excludes lightning and surges, and goes through an authorized distributor for the original installer; retail or Amazon purchases are not eligible. Factory claims go through a Hunter distributor and cover parts only; anything Aqua Premier supplies and installs is covered by our own 2-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Which Hunter rotor do I have: PGP Ultra or I-20?

Both throw 17-46 feet with the same nozzles, but the I-20's rubber cover has a FloStop hole in the center and ships with a check valve; purple covers mean reclaimed water. The PGJ and SRM are the smaller 1/2-inch rotors and the I-25 is the 1-inch large-turf model. Aqua Premier identifies and matches replacement heads on site.

How do I replace a Hunter PGV solenoid?

Shut off the water, unscrew the old solenoid counterclockwise, thread on the new 24 VAC Hunter solenoid hand-tight, and reconnect the two wires with waterproof splices; battery controllers need the DC-latching solenoid instead. A good solenoid reads 20-30 ohms. Aqua Premier replaces Hunter solenoids and diaphragms as part of a valve repair.

How do I set the Solar Sync on a Hunter X-Core?

The sensor sets Seasonal Adjust every night from sunlight and temperature; you tune it with Region 1-4 and Water Adjustment 1-10 at the Solar Sync dial position. The Bypass switch only disables the rain/freeze shutoff, and a sensor must be uninstalled at the dial or the controller shows No SS. Aqua Premier installs and calibrates Solar Sync for North Florida.

What does the Hunter X2 WAND error OFF LINE or FAIL mean?

OFF LINE means the WAND had Wi-Fi but lost it; FAIL or bAd SSID/PASS means the network name or password was wrong; rouTer CONNECT FAIL usually means the network is not 2.4 GHz. Holding the WAND button 5 seconds until Fdr shows factory-resets it. Aqua Premier re-pairs WAND modules and restores Hydrawise schedules.
